Finley, James to represent freshmen on DU royal court

NEW ORLEANS (October 9, 2020) – Biology freshman Tyler Finley and pre-nursing freshman Trinity James have been elected Mister and Miss Freshmen to represent the class on the royal court for 2020-21.

Another three students were picked as freshman senators and one as class representative in the recently restructured Student Government Association, according to results.

The coronation ball is slated for Oct. 16.

Information provided by SGA Parliamentarian Paulina Webber showed Finley garnered 50.9 percent of votes in the runoff Sept. 24 while James received 38.9 percent. Finley bested three other candidates while James led the field against four others in the race.

Kayla Hemanes was elected to the Senate in the runoff with 52 percent of the vote. She joined Landon Johnson and Andrea Watkins, who were elected in the primary.

Meanwhile, DelKyra Williams elected in the runoff  as class representative with a 56.6 percent of the vote.

About one-third of the freshmen (170 voters) participated in the primary held Sept. 21 and 175 in the runoff Sept. 24. Both ballots were conducted online through Bleu Connect.
