Facilities plans landscaping, sign changes

NEW ORLEANS (April 13, 2018) – From new landscaping to new signs, the Office of Facilities Management has been working to ensure Dillard’s campus will look just right for commencement and the upcoming semester, according to Adonis Woods, director.

Woods also announced Earth Day activities, set for 2-5 p.m. Sunday, April 22, on Kabacoff Plaza, sponsored by his office and Residential Life. Activities, music and food are planned.

We are trying to create a better campus for all of us,” said Woods. “As a university, we want to attract students, and one way to do that is by how campus looks,” said Woods. “We want our university to look as good as the education.”

Woods said the 18-month, $6.5 million drainage project should not affect commencement. Sod will be replaced and fences removed in time for graduation, he said.

Other projects Woods cited including replacing the roof of Kearny Hall and repaving the sidewalks, along with new landscaping at both entrance gates and new signage throughout campus.

Woods said his office also has been working on making the campus more sustainable through the “Bleu Goes Green” campaign. Recycling bins have been installed in almost every building and an upcoming Earth Day event is part of the awareness effort.

In the meantime, Woods wants to partner with more student organizations to spread the word about the work his office is doing.
