Arts journal Dillard review due out in Nov.

NEW ORLEANS (Nov. 2, 2018) – The Dillard Review, an annual scholastic publication for students to demonstrate their creative works, is scheduled for publication this month, according to its faculty mentor, Dr. Mona Lisa Saloy.

Saloy, a professor of English, poet, folklorist and a recipient of the T.S. Elliot Award, said the work of at least a dozen students will be featured. The publication will be published in digital format and will include creative writing, student art and photography.

This year’s issue has four student editors, all English majors: Angelica Gomez, Connie Craig, Kaylen Hawkins and Brinisha Hamilton. Hamilton is a freshman and the rest are seniors.

Even so, the publication, established in 1995 under the name “To be Continued,” uses the work of students from around campus, including those who are not necessarily engaged in literature or pursuing fine arts as a probable career path, Saloy said.

“It is for everyone, and we publish creative writing to encourage students develop their voices,” Saloy said. “We get a lot of submissions from students all across campus.”
